I'm actually rewatching Sailor Moon Crystal (SMC) Arcs 1 and 2 because I thought I'd give it another go and also to freshen up my memory before the new ones come out. The first time I watched it, it was relatively close to when I watched the first series and I really loved the old transformations and the new ones were at the time, shockingly bad. This time, I was more accepting of the new ones and I've become more lenient on SMC. It really has grown on me. Maybe watching the PV to MOON PRIDE helped..
To be fair, a lot of complaints about SMC and how they're even skinnier than before and blah are quite unfair, it's an anime. Plus, they do look awefully similar to the new Sailor Moon Kanzeban covers released by Naoko Takeuchi who everyone loves (I know I do). I think SMC is not that bad of a reboot although of course we were all hoping for much more than what was offered to us. Additionally, I think the annoying thing about SMC is that its merchandise have been quite disappointing and most of the best products this time around are still based on the old anime. The old stuff looked like instant classics whereas the new SMC stuff came off as cheap. Nevertheless, the new gashapons (see below) based on SMC look so good and they are exactly what this reboot is about - sticking closer to the manga and add a lot of dainty beauty to the series.
